GREECE, N.Y. — The Jerry J. Helfer Memorial Food Truck Rodeo was held at the Greece Town Hall Campus Tuesday, featuring a variety of food vendors and live music.
At every festival or food truck rodeo, everyone has a favorite.
And for Hannah Brooks, it’s fried dough.
“Every single festival, it’s the first truck I look for,” Brooks said.
She had to go all last year without her favorite treat, so she’s ignoring her diet for now.
“I was like, I have to break it," Brooks said. "Just for fried dough, just for fried dough.”
Steve Ventura has owned the J&S Fried Dough Food Truck for 11 years. He says he only managed to scrape by last year with small events.
"Last year was a down year, but we made it through," Ventura said. "And we’re glad we made it through.”
Which is why is so glad to be back out surrounded by hundreds of people again, at the food truck rodeo.
“It’s unbelievable," Ventura said. "And people are dying to be out, and I can see it and feel it.”
And he knows with summer only just beginning, there’s much more to come.
“I think it’s going to be extremely busy, because people are now coming out, they want to be outside," Ventura said. "And we’re waiting, we can’t wait.”
