Barbecue lovers rejoice — the annual Roc City Rib Fest is here! What's a holiday weekend without a little BBQ-ing?

The festival, celebrating one of the most quintessential barbecue staples, takes place at Barnard Fireman's Field in Greece.

"It is our twelfth annual WCMF ROC City Rib Fest," said Dave Kane, WCMF. "It's been at a different couple locations, but this turned out to be a great central location for us and it's convenient and we have room to boom and have fun."

Kane has been rocking the Rochester airwaves as a radio personality for WCMF for 38 years, and the station itself has been at it for half a century.

"Any way is a great way to celebrate 50 years and it is pretty unique and we are just jazzed for three days of ribs, and beverages, and fun, and musing, and we are looking forward to it," Kane said. "I like barbecue, I eat it about twice a month. I like barbecue, but I have deliberately kept away from it so I can have my fill here this weekend."

The festival is open Friday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 360 Maiden Lane. Admission is $5.

This year's festival features a climbing zone for kids and live music in addition to the barbecue.

A four pack of tickets, and beer tasting and general admission combo tickets, are available for purchase online.
