Von Miller was the Buffalo Bills’ big splash last offseason and it paid off early with the Bills pass rush looking good. That is until the team lost Miller for the season in November.
Miller suffered a torn ACL and has been on the road to recovery since. He was at offseason workouts all spring off to the side. He even talked to the media, and said he feels he's ahead of schedule. However, the Bills take their time bringing players back from injury - like Tre'Davious White a year ago. Expect to see more of Miller off to the side with trainers. While he said he plans to be ready for week one, that seems unlikely at this point. Miller could possibly end up on the reserve physically unable to perform (PUP) list to start the season.
With that, the Bills did bring in Leonard Floyd. The former Rams star, whi signed a one-year deal with the Bills, played with Miller when Los Angeles won the Super Bowl a few seasons ago and looks to have an immediate impact.
Greg Rousseau is going into his third season and the hope is he will take another step forward in his young career. He has the length and ability to stop the run and affect the quarterback, but was sidetracked last season with a high ankle sprain. Rousseau is one of the biggest rising young players on the defensive side of the ball.
The real camp battle comes behind that - with AJ. Epenesa, Shaq Lawson and Boogie Basham. The three will battle for who will be fourth in the rotation once Miller returns, with the other two likely battling for a spot on the roster. All three players are not producing like the Bills had hoped to this point.
Life without Von Miller should have been the top story, but Stefon Diggs swooped in and changed that last month. We’ll take a look at the Bills wide receiver in our next camp countdown.
