Football fans are getting excited as training camps across the National Football League are kicking off over the course of the next seven days.
Bills camp gets underway a week from today in Pittsford at St. John Fisher University.
Leading up to Buffalo Bills training camp, we are breaking down the major headlines and big position battles.
Today, we take a look at the Bills' addition of first-round pick, tight end Dalton Kincaid.
The Bills selected Kincaid out of Utah with the 26th overall pick, in what was a bit of a shock. Selecting a tight end in the first round is not all that common, but the Bills seem to have big plans for a very talented player right off the bat.
Aside from additions at the receiver position, it's the biggest move to boost the Bills' passing game. He’s a big, fast tight end that can get open in the middle of the field. Bills GM Brandon Beane referred to Kincaid as a big Cole Beasley on draft night.
There’s a lot on the young man’s shoulders going into his first NFL camp, with comparisons to the Chiefs' Travis Kelsey already in the air. Kincaid is a player that can line up across the offense on the line, out wide, or in the slot.
Of course, Dawson Knox, who just signed an extension, already has a report with Josh Allen and has been known to make a play or two. In years past going into camp, there has been talk about seeing more two tight end sets. This looks to be legit this season, getting Kincaid and Knox on the field at the same time. Knox being in place also puts less burden on Kincaid, who’s getting a ton thrown on his plate right away. It is likely we will get a taste of how the Bills plan to use the two but the regular season will be more telling.
Quintin Morris backed Knox up last season and is currently third on the depth chart.
Last year’s first-round draft pick Kaiir Elam is not the opening day starter at cornerback in 2022. Next up on our Camp Countdown is his battle at CB2 opposite Tre'Davious White.
