ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Red Wings will have a few more fans in the stands after their home opener on May 18.
New York state is increasing the capacity for outdoor stadiums like Frontier Field to 33%.
That increase will happen on Wednesday, May 19 amidst the Red Wings' first homestand against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
Spectrum News spoke to the team's general manager, who says he's still hoping social distancing guidelines will also be relaxed.
"It's good news today, but for us to get great news, we really going to need to hear that we can go from 6 feet to 3 feet," said general manager Dan Mason. "That's where we're really going to pick up a lot of additional seats. This will really only help us pick up another 2 or 300 seats maybe."
Tickets for the first home stand of games from May 18 through 23 will go on sale Monday, May 10.
