Fairport native Blaze Riorden is living his lacrosse dream, playing professional lacrosse year round.
Riorden and his Chaos teammates finished second in the Premier Lacrosse League bubble tournament in Utah at the end of July and beginning of August. He earned his second straight PLL Goalie of the Year honors by making 119 saves in 10 games.
He made National headlines at the University at Albany when he scored a goal for the Great Danes while playing goalie. Riorden trained with the Thompson brothers to hone his offensive skills and transitioned from goalie to forward when he plays indoor. Riorden currently lives in Philadelphia where he plays forward for the National Lacrosse League Wings. His scoring ability earned him a spot on Team USA for the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in British Columbia last winter.
Riorden says, "My long term goal and I had it in my high school yearbook, was to be a professional lacrosse player and I said I wanted to make some serious coin and had this big dream and I'm currently living out my dream and I don't take a minute for granted and I'm living in the moment and just happy to be where I am but still committed to being even better."
The National Lacrosse League suspended play due to the pandemic but plans to restart again this winter. The Entry Draft is scheduled for September 17th.
