Hilton’s Greg Diakomihalis is aiming to become the first Section V wrestler to win five state titles.

"Just been taking it year-by-year but I guess after the first one, you think, ‘aw man, now I got to keep winning.’ So, that's what I keep thinking about, win this year, win the next year…keep working on what's in front of me," Diakomihalis said.

Hilton will be well-represented at this year’s state championship. Ryan Burgos, Rocco Camillaci, and Collin Burns will join Diakomihalis in Albany for the tournament.

“I think we're fairly close as a team,” Diakomihalis said. “We've had our ups and downs, we've missed out on a few team state titles, a few disappointing losses here and there but overall, I've loved the experience, I think it's a great room."

Honeoye Falls-Lima's all-time winningest wrestler, senior Anthony Noto, is seeking his fourth straight state title in Division 2.

Diakomihalis is in Division 1, but they're both in the same 120 pound weight class, and work out together.

"He's a great friend, good partner to train with, I mean, I train over at his house a couple of days a week,” Noto said. “He's like my size, so all the moves work. I thank him a lot because, without him, I wouldn't be as good as I am."

Diakomihalis will wrestle at Cornell where his brother, Yianni, is a two-time NCAA Champion. Meanwhile, Noto is heading to North Carolina State.

The State Wrestling Tournament takes place Friday, February 28 and Saturday, February 29.
