HF-L got back on track with a 41-7 win over Batavia last Friday. The Cougars racked up more than 330 yards of offense, thanks in large part to running back Mason Ferrara. The senior rushed for 254 yards and four touchdowns.
"He has a knack for finding the hole and even if the hole is really small, he has a knack to get through that hole. His aggressive nature allows him to bounce off tackles and break tackles,” said John Russ, HF-L head coach.
“I like to try and be patient because a lot of our plays require that. These guys are able to make their blocks with the right timing but also if the opportunity presents itself, I'll take it,” said Mason Ferrara, HF-L senior.
Ferrara credits his offensive line in helping him total more than 650 yards through three games this season.
“If they're able to pull through their blocks and get to where they're going quickly, it's my favorite thing. And as long as I can get to where I'm going, that's all I can ask for," said Ferrara.
“We love blocking for him. He runs hard. He runs fast and when we get touchdowns, it's amazing,” said Jon Kabes, HF-L senior.
The Cougars are 2-1 and a win this week at Brockport is another step toward one of the team's goals.
"At the end of the day, all we want is a chance to get into sectionals. If we can get into sectionals, we'll play whoever is on our schedule and I'm hoping by the end of the year we're in the position where nothing is hard for us to do. The task at hand is easier because we've improved week to week,” said Russ.
