The gloomy weather and rain delayed the Red Wings and Mets game on Monday, but Tim Tebow still made his first appearance in the Flower City.

The former NFL quarterback and 2007 Heisman Trophy winner is in his third year of pro-baseball. The 31-year-old outfielder is batting .161 with 5 RBI in nine games for Syracuse this season.

He says his experience in the NFL prepared him for this new career.

"You're going to get way to much of the glory and way to much of the criticism," said Tebow. "Everything that I went through in football has helped me with the mental side of being a minor league baseball player."

The Red Wings and Mets will face off at Frontier Field on Tuesday in a doubleheader. It starts at 5:05 p.m.
