Webster Thomas hockey has set the Section V standard for more than 15 years. While other programs have struggled with roster sizes diminishing, the Titans are continuing to grow.

"Most players wanna be here," said Thomas head coach David Evans. "We've had some guys that have left but we've also had guys that have left and have come back and made the choice to come back and play travel locally and play for us."

"We get a lot of people because of the tradition of Thomas hockey," said senior goalie Cody Rougeux. "We all love coming here to the rink every day and being with each other. In the hallways, all the boys, they're always together and hyped up.”

That continuity has led Thomas to four straight sectional finals, with the Titans winning this year for the first time since 2013.

"It all led up and you take what you know from the past three years and you make sure you get all the little things right for your fourth year," said senior forward Spencer Nuccitelli.

Just two games away from a state title, the Titans know just how much is on the line.

"It would mean a ton to win a state title," said Rougeux. "Last year we lost the sectional finals. The year before that we lost in sectional finals, so all us boys want it more than anyone.”

Thomas plays in the state semifinal Saturday in Buffalo.
