On Monday, some neighborhoods in Monroe County have still not recovered from Saturday's high winds.
Crews were still working to restore power to more than 100 customers in one Greece neighborhood near Olympia High School. Many other neighborhoods are still waiting for crews to make it to their area.
Some residents in the area have been without power since Saturday. They say the temperature inside their homes dropped and they are doing what they can to keep warm.
“Sometime around 12:30 this morning the power went out again and still is not on. Very cold...just huddle up in blankets that’s about it," said Paul Eckert of Greece.
“I called this morning before I came out for my walk and they still said 11 o’clock tonight," Thomas Whalen of Greece said. "I’m not sure what the story is. We had power yesterday and all of a sudden again.”
NYSEG says it expects to have 95% of customers back on by Tuesday. They knew the storm was coming and brought in extra crews to help. But getting to all the damage and fixing it takes time.
"We had more than 600 downed wires and more than 100 broken poles from the storm," said Sarah Warren of RG&E. "Setting a pole takes a lot of work and time. Coupled with the fact that there can be branches entangled in the wires that crews have to clear. They can be in back lots that are hard to access. So there are a variety of issues our crews have to handle to restore power."
NYSEG is asking customers to keep checking the outage report for updates.
If your power is not restored after the estimated time given by RG&E, call and let the company know at 800-743-1701.
The Monroe County Parks Department is also asking for help locating damage across its 22 parks.
If you see damage, you can take a picture and post it to the department's Facebook page and crews will address the issue.
