ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police have identified the man shot and killed by officers Wednesday at the Family Dollar on West Main Street.

RPD says Simran Gordon, 24, was attempting to rob the store, and that he was shot and killed during a gunfire exchange with Rochester Police.

Interim Police Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan says Gordon was involved in three other homicides.

Two police officers had responded to the store Wednesday night when the shooting happened.

"My heart goes out to the people who were in the store, the employees. It was terrifying for them, I’m sure. Also for the customers, who didn't quite know what was going on. It’s a scary thing and to hear the shots. I could only imagine what they were going through."

RPD says no officers, customers or employees were hurt.

Redacted body-camera footage should be provided to the public soon.
