ROCHESTER, N.Y. —  U.S. Attorney for Western New York James Kennedy is hosting a community discussion on efforts to reduce gun violence in the city of Rochester next week.

The event is taking place Tuesday, July 27 at 10 a.m. at the Rochester Educational Opportunity Center on Chestnut Street.

Anyone is allowed to attend.

This event comes just a few of weeks after Kennedy announced the VIPER task force, a team-up of law enforcement and federal agencies, to attempt to curb violence in the city.

“The time has come for the good people of Rochester, our everyday citizens, to say enough is enough," Kennedy said July 8 while in Rochester. “We will not tolerate this lawlessness, and this wonton violence. The time has come for us to take back our streets and to restore some measure of public safety.”

Representatives from law enforcement agencies will be in attendance.
