ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A local non-profit is filing a formal complaint about crime and violence which it says is negatively impacting businesses and the community in the Lyell Avenue neighborhood.

The Little Italy Association of Rochester filed a complaint with the New York State Attorney General's Office, the New York State Police, and the Rochester Police Department's net office.

The organization says it decided to submit the complaint after talking with area residents and businesses over the past year.

In a statement, the group said in part:

"There are problem spots in the area with nearly 150-200 911 service calls per year, many of which go unanswered, and the loiterers, prostitutes, and drug dealers are apparently left in the area to do their business uninterrupted."
