CALEDONIA, N.Y. — A murder victim's voice is what investigators hope will bring a new lead to find her killer.
The voice of 16-year-old Tammy Jo Alexander was released from a taped recording she sent to her boyfriend around July of 1979.
The Livingston County Sheriff released the recordings on the anniversary of her death.
Alexander was a Florida teenager. Her body was found in a Caledonia cornfield 41 years ago.
Police say someone shot Alexander in the head and back, and left her to die.
Investigators did not know her identity, until forensic experts confirmed it five years ago.
They hope Tammy's voice could help jog a memory for anyone who might have seen her, and perhaps her killer, before her death.
Anyone with information on the death of Tammy Jo Alexander is encouraged to call 911.
