PENFIELD, N.Y. — A man from Greece has been identified as the person who died at a Penfield shooting range.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Genesee Conservation League on Old Penfield Road.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says John Koziol, 67, was struck by the accidental discharge of a gun and died at the scene.

The shooting range says Koziol was a certified range officer who was serving as a safety officer in a shooting competition when he was struck by a round from a competitor’s firearm.
