ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A family-owned liquor store in Rochester is seeking help from the community after multiple break-ins over the past few months.
It’s nearly business as usual at Ridgeway Liquor in Rochester, after a burglary Monday night.
“We’ve been in business for just about a year, within the last few months, we’ve had a wide amount, or a large amount of break-ins," said Briana Chamberlain, manager of Ridgeway Liquor.
Ridgeway Liquor says the first incident happened in March of this year.
Since then, Rochester police say officers have responded to three calls for criminal mischief of broken windows.
“You get a little concerned, but we’re really resilient, so we’re not taking this as a fall or a lost, we’re taking it as a lesson learned and an experience,” said Chamberlain.
Surveillance video shows the most recent break-in around 11 p.m. on Monday.
You can see the suspect breaking the window, filling a trashcan full of bottles, then dragging it out the door, and later hopping in a waiting getaway car.
“With each break-in, essentially, we’ve just upped our game more, more security, making sure that we’re keeping our eyes open…," said Chamberlain.
Ridgeway Liquor is a family business, and Chamberlain says they’ve worked hard to get Ridgeway Liquor to where it is now.
There are no plans to close because of the break-ins, and they’ve talked to Rochester police about increasing patrols in the area.
“We just want to make sure people in the area made aware there are people that’s breaking into businesses, and just for people who may be passing by to keep their eyes open,” said Chamberlain.
Ridgeway Liquor says if you know the person in the video, please contact the store or Rochester police.
