A Greece family's home sustained massive damage after a fire tore through two floors Tuesday night.

The North Greece Fire District says it received multiple calls for the fire on Applewood Drive just after 7 p.m.

Crews arrived on scene to heavy flames coming from the back of the house.

Spectrum News is told no one was home at the time - and it took about a half-hour to get under control.

North Greece Fire District Chief Sam DeRosa says the weather required additional resources.

"The temperature and the humidity play a huge part in working the firefighters and you know you worry about things like heat exhaustion, heatstroke, that type of stuff so a couple of extra units were dispatched, or the extra alarm was dispatched to accommodate that," said DeRosa.

No firefighters were injured.

The cause is under investigation.
