A cable technician is dead after deputies say a drunk driver struck his truck in Seneca County.

Paul Kelley, 49, of Ovid, died at the scene early Friday morning.

The Seneca County Sheriff's Office says Jon Lamere, 29, of Waterloo, was driving north on Burgess Road in Junius when he collided with Kelley's utility truck.

Deputies say Lamare didn't see the truck's flashing lights or reflective cones that were set up on the roadway.

Lamare is facing several charges, including vehicular manslaughter, DWI, using a cellphone, and marijuana possession.

Kelley was a Spectrum employee.

The company released a statement, saying:

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and co-workers of our technician who was fatally injured early this morning. We are actively working with the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office as they investigate this incident.”
