A man is dead following a high-speed chase through Wyoming and Genesee counties.
Police say Cleveland Johnson, 22, of Lauderdale Lakes, Fl., died at the scene.
The chase began when Warsaw Police Department officers tried to stop a car driven by Johnson for speeding on State Route 19 in Warsaw late Monday afternoon. According to police, Johnson took off and continued into Attica where police again tried to stop the vehicle on State Route 98.
Attica Police officers ended the chase due to the high rate of speed and by the time they caught up with Johnson, the car had struck a tree on Main Street in Alexander.
Two passengers in the car were seriously hurt in the crash. Clyde Frazier, 24, of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., and Desarae Steriotis, 33, of Philadelphia, Pa., were airlifted to hospitals by Mercy Flight.
The vehicle is registered in Pennsylvania.
Police are still investigating the reason Johnson chose to flee.
