Police have released the name of a young man who was killed in a crash in Irondequoit.

It happened around 2:00 a.m. Saturday on St. Paul Boulevard at Fairview Crescent near Cooper Road.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting tires screeching and a loud crash. When officers arrived, they found a car into a tree and the driver, Sean Cottrell, 18, of Rochester, dead at the scene.

The road was shut down for several hours as officials reconstructed the crash. The cause is still under investigation.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help Cottrell's family with expenses.
