The child rescued from a burning home in Lyons last weekend has died.
Family members tell Spectrum News that Kayden Bennett, 4, died at the hospital Friday where he was being treated for smoke inhalation.
Multiple fire departments from Wayne and Ontario counties responded to the home on Route 14 in Lyons around 10 a.m. Saturday. Kayden's mother and brother Hunter escaped the fire. But Kayden had to be rescued from the second floor.
Crews were able to put the fire out, but not before it had spread throughout the home causing significant damage. Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire, but believe it started somewhere on the first floor.
A GoFundMe was started to support the family during this tragic loss. Meantime, memorial services have been set for the young boy. A celebration of life will take place Saturday, November 30 at Serven Volunteer Fire House in Waterloo. It's from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
