Kathy Hochul has been the governor of New York for just over four months, and Wednesday she laid out her agenda for New York as the state Legislature reconvened for a new session.
The State of the State, much like the president's State of the Union, is meant to give a broad-brush view of the governor's agenda for the new year.
Hochul returned to tradition by giving her address in-person in the state Assembly chamber in Albany. Her predecessor, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, had opted to deliver the address in the convention center of the Empire State Plaza.
Hochul's positon is also unique in that she is putting forward her first-ever gubernatorial to-do list while also running for a full term in her own right this year, which includes fending off at least two Democratic primary opponents.
