ROCHESTER, N.Y. — While there were no major upsets, a few new faces appear to have secured bids in the primary race for Rochester City Council.
Incumbent candidates Mitch Gruber, Willie Lightfoot and Miguel Melendez Jr. won their re-election bids Tuesday night.
Stanley Martin and Kim Smith from The People's Slate also appeared to come out on top in their bids for at-large seats.
Martin is a local activist rising up in the Black Lives Matter movement and Kim Smith is a 25-year employee of the Monroe County Department of Public Health.
