Polls are open in Monroe County and across the state. Primary Day voting runs until 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

What You Need To Know

  • Primary Day voting started at 6 a.m. and runs until 9 p.m.

  • Absentee ballots must be turned in by the end of voting on Tuesday

  • Some unofficial results will be available on Tuesday night

  • Full official results will be available on June 30

Monroe County Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner Jackie Ortiz says they are prepared for a long day and people should expect to see some results later in the evening.

"On election night, you will fully be able to expect voting machine results," said Ortiz. "So everything based on early voting tabulated with machine results will all be available on our website. I wouldn't expect numbers early, because polls don't close until 9, and then the machine cards will start coming to the Board of Elections, where we'll start to read them."

Those will be the unofficial results. Final results won't come in until June 30 after the board has opened and counted absentee ballots.

Ortiz says so far, they've received 2,200 absentee ballots, which could make a big difference in close races.

Tuesday is the last day absentee ballots can be postmarked. The board waits to open them until June 30 so that all the ballots have time to come in the mail.

If you have any questions about whether you're registered to vote or where your polling location is, you can check your voter information on the Monroe County Board of Elections website by searching your name and address.
