President Trump on Tuesday endorsed Republican state Sen. Chris Jacobs for the special election in New York's 27th congressional district.
The president made the announcement on Twitter, saying Jacobs "will always fight for the people of New York."
Jacobs will challenge former Grand Island town supervisor Nate McMurray for the seat, vacant since former Rep. Chris Collins resigned the seat last year.
The winner of the April 28 special election will hold the seat for the rest of Collin's term, through January 2021.
Both McMurray and Jacobs said they'll seek their party's nomination to run this November and fill the seat for the next two years.
