Early voting continues across New York state and voter turnout numbers in Monroe County have been increasing as the work week gets underway.

More than 16,000 people entered polling places across the county on Monday to fill out ballots ahead of the presidential election next week.

A total of 47,000 Monroe County residents have already cast their votes over the past three days.

For those who still want to head to a polling place this week, registered voters can go to any of the 17 early voting locations from noon - 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Those hours shift to 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Wednesday.

One of the locations where people can vote is the historical home of a woman once arrested for casting her ballot. The Susan B. Anthony House is a representation of a pivotal moment in the Women's Suffrage Movement. Those who choose that polling location this week have been keeping her story in mind as they exercise their right to vote.

"I think Susan B. Anthony imagined that women would someday vote, or she wouldn't have kept doing what she did, but I'm not sure she would have imagined that there would have been an Episcopal priest or bishop in her ... in memory," said Rt. Rev. Kara Wagner Sherer of the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester. "So I'll feel pretty ... [like I'm] standing on the shoulders of many great women and men who fought for equality."

Early voting runs through Sunday, Nov. 3 with Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
