Regional caregivers are accusing UR Medicine Home Care of stalling negotiations in their very first union contract.
Members of the Local 1199SEIU took part in an informational picket in Webster on Monday.
The union says they've been in talks with URMHC for nine months and recently voted to authorize a strike lasting up to three days.
So far, no strike date has been set.
"The terms and conditions that we've put forth across the table is not unreasonable," said Tracey Harrison, vice president of the 1199SEIU's Rochester-Corning district. "[We are asking for] good quality health care benefits, reasonable health care benefits [and] a reasonable workload so these folks can provide the highest level of care and get home to see their families as well."
UR Medicine Home Care is refuting those claims, saying it has reached tentative agreements with the union on multiple proposals and it respects the rights of workers to engage in the picket.
"While URMHC recognizes and respects the right to engage in an informational picket, we are sincere in our desire to reach a fair agreement as demonstrated by our agreement to many of the provisions proposed," UR Medicine Home Care said in a statement. "We remain committed to treating each and every employee fairly—both those who are union-represented and those who are not."
