In the race for New York's 25th Congressional District race, Republican businessman Gregg Sadwick is challenging Democratic incumbent Joe Morelle.

Both described their top priorities.

“Our debt is a $36 trillion and it's not stopping," Sadwick said. "We are borrowing more than we even produce as a country. So that's got to stop. So, the debt [and] the economy, I roll it all together. Number two is the border. I mean, the border has impeded our ability to get our economy under control. The third one would be our presence internationally. We need strong leadership and a strong, a strong America to kind of right the ship.”

Morelle now running for his fourth term in the House of Representatives.

“Well, my priorities are reducing costs for families," Morelle said. "We did it when it came to prescription drugs for people on Medicare. And we need to extend that to all people, reduce the cost of housing. And there's a lot of work that's going on that's really positive. So that's my top priority. Second is really to build an economy for everyone. So we're working really hard with organized labor, with our business community to try to create more jobs in the region, but that help everyone, not just a select few people. And then finally, just trying to assure reproductive rights for women throughout this country, not on a state by state basis, but to be protecting women's rights to their own health care nationally.”

A relative newcomer to politics is taking on the incumbent and longtime politician.
