A familiar sight at Western New York sporting events is being immortalized on a building along Arlington Street in Rochester.
Longtime vendor Tom Girot, better known as “Conehead,” has long been known for serving up cold ones at professional sports games around the region going all the way back to the 1970s.
His likeness is now the basis for one local artist's latest mural.
Artist Thievin' Stephen has been painting murals for more than a decade.
He says a steady consistent presence in the community, from artists to vendors, shouldn't be taken for granted.
"These things don't just happen out of the blue," the artist said. "Us feeling like, 'Wow, the Conehead is still doing it. [It] makes me feel like a kid again. That's because he's doing hard work and we should say thanks and not take it like it came out of thin air."
Stephen says he asked Girot for permission to depict him in the mural after spotting him at a ballpark.
