"This community is the reason; I am who I am today," said Ricard.  "My wife is from this area. All her friends and family are here. We have a home here. So I think it's really important for me to show my face here because think I can be an inspiration for the youth and anyone who knows my story."

Hundreds of people gathered inside the Spencer Fire Department Saturday morning for flapjacks as well as a chance for a meet and greet and have autographs signed by the seven-year Ravens fullback.

Children in attendance got painted and participated in raffles for select prizes.

This is Pat's second pancake charity event in three years and Parsons says the impact has been felt by many.

"You go down through the town during football season, you'll see a lot of Pat Ricard Jerseys," said Parsons. "He's done a lot for the community and a lot of good in the community. The community has gotten behind him as he's playing I wish he'd come to the Patriots down the road."

For the kids we spoke with, having the chance to meet the local NFL Pro Bowler was a dream come true.

"It felt good," said Ryleigh Sadusky.

"Getting my ball signed," said Jamison Whitcomb.

"I feel very happy, I never met Pat Ricard before," said Ariya Rodriguez. "This is the first time, so I felt really excited to get his signature."

And for Ricard, the Worcester County community is where hopes to continue to make a difference.

"I think it's just really important o to have this day and just to give back," Ricard said. "I think that's what anybody should do especially in this area."

The proceeds from the Pancakes with Pat event will go towards the David Prouty High School Booster Club and the Spencer Fire Association.
