In the final of his four-part State of the County Address, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello focused on the county's efforts to modernize and improve infrastructure.

Bello touted ongoing efforts to modernize the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport, upgrades at the VanLare Water Treatment Plant, Innovative Field and the Seneca Park Zoo, among other projects.

Bello also discussed plans for a multimodal freight infrastructure project, a countywide active transportation plan, five miles of new sidewalks in communities, additional bike lanes, and an effort to provide high-speed, low-cost wireless internet to underserved areas.

“As we continue to invest in and modernize our infrastructure, we are building a Monroe County that is not only more efficient and resilient, but also more equitable and connected,” Bello said in a statement. “Whether it’s the enhanced travel experience at our top-rated airport, seamless connectivity provided by our broadband initiatives, the safer, more accessible pathways created through our Active Transportation Plan, the major investments in our parks system, or strategic development of our multimodal freight infrastructure, every effort is aimed at expanding opportunity and elevating the quality of life for our entire community.”

Through the Go Outside Monroe initiative, Bello highlighted multiple completed, ongoing and upcoming projects aimed at renovating and upgrading the parks system.

More than 8,000 trees will also be purchased and planted in county parks over the next three years.

Bello's previous three addresses from this month focused on public healthpublic safety and workforce and economic development.
