In Sodus Point, you can unwind on the beach and soak in the sun. If you like a quaint community by the water, this stop is for you.

Sodus Point has waterfront views of Lake Ontario at every turn. Spend time outdoors, maybe with a hike at Maceyville Preserve. This woodsy walk has been part of the village for about 5 years.

Head to Sodus Point County Beach and sink your toes in the sand or take a swim. Get out on the water by renting a boat or a kayak.

Take with a walk around town and visit one of the area’s two new gift shops. If you want to show off your swing, spend the day at the Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club. Be sure to call ahead for a tee time.

“It was created in the 1920s,” Sodus Point Mayor Dave McDowell said. “It’s a fabulous course; it’s semiprivate; you can call the pro shop and get a starting time. It’s a beautiful course and it’s in great shape this year.”

There’s also The Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum in the village, where visitors can get a look at nautical and lighthouse history in Sodus. If you want the ultimate view, climb 53 steps to the top of the old lighthouse. Hold on tight to the handrail and learn about Sodus’ nautical and lighthouse history.

“And it has all new exhibits in it this year. The whole place has been refurbished, the place has been updated; the building has actually been restored,” said McDowell.

The Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum has a summer concert series weekly. Catch free shows every Sunday from 2-4 p.m., and there’s concessions for purchase.
