The friends and family of a Rochester woman are celebrating her life this week. Brandy Miller was one of three women who died after being caught in a stampede at the Main Street Armory following a concert.
Brandy's funeral is happening on Tuesday, but those who knew her also attended calling hours on Monday at the Salvation Army Chapel on West Avenue. Loved ones and friends came to say goodbye to Brandy, who was just 35 years old.
Her godsister Kizzy says she talked to Brandy the night of the concert. It was the final time the two would ever speak.
"Brandy helped everybody," Kizzy said. "I've seen people on social media saying they didn't even know her personally but 'who is the family? She helped me, she talked to me when I was suicidal.' I've seen so many things, like wow. I wish I could just talk to her one more time. There are some things I really had to tell her, you know?"
Police say Brandy Miller, Rhondesia Belton, of Buffalo, and Aisha Katherine Haskins-Stephens, of Syracuse, were all critically injured when the crowd at a GloRilla concert at the Armory became panicked and began pushing towards the exits. All three women died at Strong Memorial Hospital. An investigation into what set off the stampede is ongoing and police have not charged anyone criminally.
Brandy's godsister says Brandy lost her mother a few years ago and she felt that she came to take Brandy home with her.
