ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Faith and community leaders came together at the spot where 3-year-old Marlo Joseph was shot last week, praying for an end to the gun violence in Rochester.
Uniting and Healing Through Hope of Monroe County is starting a new series of events aimed at reconnecting people with the church as well as providing resources for those struggling with a life of violence.
The Stop the Violence Community Church Fairs will take place every two weeks. The event will rotate through different quadrants of the city in an attempt to get more people involved in the lives of young people.
“Volunteer to help some of these young folk and their families – a lot of our young people and children are crying out for help – they’re lost and they don’t know their way,” Clay Harris, Uniting & Healing Through Hope of Monroe County founder, said. “We who know the way need to teach them the way.”
The next church fair is taking place Oct. 15 at the corner of Parsells Ave. and Denver St.
