ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Four people have been fatally shot in Rochester, less than a day after Mayor Lovely Warren declared a state of emergency due to violence across the city.

Earlier this week, Rochester hit the mark for the deadliest year on record. With these new deaths, the number of homicides in the city this year rises to 75.

Rochester police say two men in their 30s were shot around noon on Pioneer Street on Saturday.

One victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe this incident is domestic-related.

Police say Stephen Morgan, 38, of Rochester, was killed after a shooting in the parking lot of a lounge on West Avenue just before midnight. Police say Morgan was a passenger in a motor vehicle parked in the parking lot and say he was not an intended target of the shooting, but was caught in the crossfire. Another person was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, but is currently in stable condition.

Another shooting took place near the Black Bear Pub on West Ridge Road around 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police say multiple shots were fired into a group in a parking lot. A man in his 30s died at the scene.

Late Saturday night, Rochester police reported a fourth shooting on Athens Street. Officers located a man in his 30s just after 11 p.m. with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his wounds. No suspect is in custody at this time.

These incidents are isolated, according to Rochester police, who say there is no threat to the public at this time.

“This is not to minimize the loss of life, being a victim of violence is never acceptable,” Interim RPD Chief David Smith said in a statement. “The Rochester Police Department wishes to pass on our condolences to the surviving family members. We also request and encourage any assistance from witnesses who may have observed this violence. It will take our community joining together in peace to bring peace.”
