ROCHESTER, N.Y. — More Rochester City School District school buildings could be at risk of closing.

In her weekly video message, Superintendent Dr. Lesli Myers-Small says her leadership is evaluating the current configuration of schools within the district to maximize use of space.

She says because of declining enrollment, some schools being under capacity and the age and condition of some facilities, changes might be coming for the 2022-23 academic year.

Dr. Myers-Small says she’ll be presenting a proposal at the Board of Education meeting Tuesday. The BOE will then vote in February.

Former Superintendent Terry Dade closed two elementary schools to help close a budget gap, and converted a third into a middle school.

Dr. Myers-Small also talked about violence in schools in her message, discussing new arrival and dismissal protocols with more security and staff.
