ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Downtown Rochester will be home to new supportive apartments.
A groundbreaking was held Thursday on 24 permanent units.
The Homeless Housing and Assistance Program is providing almost $6.6 million towards these new apartments.
"The way we run our programs and services is we really want to see people achieve true and complete independence and restoration," said Anna Valeria-Iseman, executive director of the Open Door Mission. "So we would love to be able to see people come through here, use this for as much time as they need and then move on to their own housing after that. But at the same time, for some folks that's just not possible so they will be able to stay here for as long as they need to."
The Miller Building on West Main Street downtown will house the new apartments.
