A lawsuit filed in Monroe County court Monday alleges former Buffalo Bills player Cornelius Bennett sexually assaulted a teenager at a Brighton bar in 1992.

The Buffalo Bills and the National Football League are also named in the suit.

The plaintiff alleges that Bennett assaulted her when she was 17 in the basement of what was then the Otter Lounge, a bar on Monroe Avenue.

She says she was there selling flowers at the time.

The plaintiff says Bennett was one of a number of Bills players and Jills cheerleaders who had come into the bar that day and were identifiable by the team gear they were wearing.

Spectrum News 1 has reached out to the Bills and the plaintiff’s attorney for comment and have yet to hear back.
