ROCHESTER, N.Y. — ​Rochester Police have identified the victim who was shot along Sawyer Street late Friday night as 41-year-old Sherrice Jackson.

Police say Jackson suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. First responders attempted lifesaving measures, but she later died at the scene. 

Jackson's death marks Rochester's 36th homicide this year. The investigation is ongoing to establish a motive for the shooting.
