Congress officially certified President-elect Joe Biden's victory overnight, denying objections to overturn results in contested states across the nation.

During the arguments, a local congressman took a dramatic move, crossing the aisle to defend the Eletoral College vote.

"As a proud Republican, I rise in opposition to the objection to the electors," said Congressman Tom Reed. "Madam speaker, I come to this side of the aisle as a proud Republican, but most importantly, as a proud American."

It happened right after Republicans delivered their arguments to overturn the Arizona results, a crucial state won by Preisdent-elect Joe Biden.

Reed went on to say that he will continue to be a proud Republican and stand by his ideals, but he maintains that there needs to be a peaceful transition of power.

He also condemned the chaos in Washingon that happened earlier in the day — which delayed the certification process.

"Today we saw an assault on our Democracy. I love this institution. I love the United States Congress. And I love the United State of America. What I saw today was mob rule," said Reed.
