From the Patriot Guard to supporters in vintage cars, hundreds came out Sunday for a Back the Blue ride from Canandaigua to Geneva.

They gathered at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack to show support for local and state law enforcement. A steady stream of vehicles made their way from the casino through Main Street in Canandaigua, along Routes 5 and 20, all the way to the Finger Lakes Welcome Center along Seneca Lake.

Riders say they decked their vehicles in blue American flags and signs to show police officers their appreciation for their service.

"There is a lot of good that comes out of law enforcement. We do a lot of great things every day, especially here in Monroe County. It was very nice to see everyone come out and appreciate the police today. It was very nice," Gates Police Chief James VanBrederode said.

Organizers say they meant for the event to be a peaceful rally and not be political.
