Bike riders rallied on Rochester’s east side for the Unity Bike Ride, a slow-paced six mile ride through the city’s eastern neighborhoods.
The ride, which was inspired by a similar ride on the west side, was led by Rochester Police Department officers.
The Unity Bike Ride will start and end each Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Tops Plaza on Upper Falls Boulevard.
"I thought it would be important to have the ride on this side of town to promote community, to promote unity for families, for children, for the elderly. So we're riding six miles today to support community," Kecia McCullough, Black Girls Do Bike Rochester founder, says.
The weekly bike rides will continue all summer. The ride is free and open to all.
