After weeks of virtual church services, churchgoers at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Rochester got back together to honor their pastor with a surprise.

The church led a car parade to James Cherry's house to celebrate his 11th anniversary of becoming a pastor at Antioch. For many, this is the first time they've seen their pastor in person in months.

Cherry says the parade meant a lot to him.

"We're just so grateful that they've done it, and [it was a] total surprise. I'm waiting to get home, and all this. Total surprise," Cherry says.

Antioch Missionary says it won't rush to hold in-person services again as the state works to slow the coronavirus spread. The church has been holding virtual services since March 15.
