Fuel the Frontline Rochester is a network of people who want to give, lend a helping hand and make a difference in the lives of essential workers; working around the clock amid the spread of COVID-19.

Co-founders and sisters-in-law Michelle and Melissa Yeager say anyone can join in efforts to “Fuel the Frontline” and send an essential worker a meal, gift card or care package they need.

“We set up a Facebook page within a couple of hours,” said Michelle, “and just started inviting our friends; trying to spread the word and get people involved.”

“We’re just asking people for things,” said Melissa, “that health care workers can carry with them or have in a really quick moment’s notice. Individually wrapped snacks, bottles of drinks; stuff that they can eat on the fly.”

The team of givers organized a porch pick-up drive, collecting grab-and-go items donated by the community. All you have to do is contact Fuel the Frontline via Facebook and provide your location.

This initiative is now in its second week, and has received an outpouring of community support.

Early Saturday, you could see the generous crew driving a vehicle around town, overflowing with donated goods to gift to essential workers on the frontlines.

“These doctors,” said Michelle, “nurses, secretaries, environmental staff, it’s just really important to me that they know that the Rochester community is behind them.”
