Town of Hyde Park police are warning people never to take and share illicit pictures of themselves. This comes after several students from FDR High School in Hyde Park reported illicit photos of students were shared on the social media app Snapchat.
Police say photos of students from the high school were posted on Snapchat without their permission. The Hyde Park Police Department, Hyde Park School District officials, Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office, and NYSP Computer Crimes Unit are all investigating.
Experts say there are things you can do to protect your Snapchat account.
"Making sure the individuals Snapchat is secure, has a good password, has two-factor authentication — that's really the key in making sure that account stays secure," said Adam Dean of Greycastle Security.
We reached out to the Hyde Park Central School District regarding the reports but have not yet heard back. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call police at 845-229-9340.
