An arrest has been made in connection to an ax murder in Brighton that happened nearly 40 years ago.

The Monroe County District Attorney’s office says James Krauseneck is charged with 2nd degree murder in connection to the death of his wife Cathleen, which happened back in 1982.

Brighton police will hold a press conference Tuesday to address the arrest.

Krauseneck's attorneys are maintaining their client's innocence, saying he has cooperated with the investigation since the beginning.

They say Krauseneck's daughter Sara also believes he's innocent. She was 3 and half years old and home at the time of killing.

”She has traveled from out of state to support her father as he pleads not guilty. She has never doubted her father’s innocence,” reads a statement from Krauseneck’s attorney.
