Republican State Senator Robert Ortt made it official on Saturday morning — he's throwing his hat into the 2020 race for the 27th Congressional District.
Ortt calls himself a battle-tested patriot, referring to his time serving in Afghanistan after 9/11. As a veteran, he said one of his main focuses for his platform is to improve veteran healthcare.
He also said he would back President Donald Trump in building a wall and he hopes to increase funding to border security.
“I'm not running for congress for a seat at the table,” Ortt said. “I'm running to flip the table over."
Ortt is the third Republican to officially enter the race. He’s joined by State Senator Chris Jacobs, Attorney Beth Parlato, and Democrat challenger, and Grand Island Town Supervisor Nate McMurray.
