There will not be a referendum on the ballot pertaining to state governorship of the Rochester City School District.

The decision comes a day after the matter was argued in court.

A State Supreme Court judge has shot down a referendum that would have allowed city voters to decide the fate of the Rochester City School District. The ruling means the city school board of education will continue to oversee the district - ending calls for a state takeover.

State Supreme Court Judge Scott Odorisi released his written ruling Friday.

The decision is a major blow to Mayor Lovely Warren, who openly supported a state injunction,  eventually calling for the referendum which would have appeared on the November election ballot.

The board of education filed suit against the city claiming the vote was illegal.
