The former chairman of the state Republican Party Richard Rosenbaum has died.

Republicans are expressing their grief including the current chairman, Nick Langworthy, who said Rosenbaum left an incredible mark on New York and his political talents will be remarked on for generations to come.

Monroe County Republican Chairman Bill Napier said, among many things, Rosenbaum served as a role model for generations of candidates and political leaders.

Napier, who refers to Rosenbaum as Rosie, said he cherishes their six decades of friendship.

Rosenbaum also served as a New York State Supreme Court Justice and was among the youngest elected to the bench. He was also a one-time chair of the Monroe County Republican Party and majority leader of the Monroe County Legislature.

His son, Matthew, is a New York State Supreme Court Justice, and his daugther, Amy Steklof, is the Penfield town clerk.
